Our Responsibility

With over 50 years of experience, we understand and appreciate how privileged we are to operate in the remote mountain locations we call home. Our founder, Hans Gmoser, was a committed environmentalist and community leader long before the green revolution. He instilled the sense of stewardship that runs through the company today - an important value for both our new and more experienced employees.

CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures will be the leading sustainable tourism operator in North America.

We will:

  • Be responsible stewards of the environments and communities in which we live, work, and play.

  • Strive to improve environmental performance in all of our operations.

  • Be a leader in sustainability in our professional organizations and the broader tourism sector.

  • Educate staff, guests, and suppliers about our sustainability goals and initiatives, and encourage personal action.

  • Operate in a manner that is compliant with all government laws and regulations.

  • Support research and education programs to improve our sustainability practices.

  • Contribute to the economic and social well-being of our local communities.

  • Deliver strong financial results to ensure a sustainable future for our company.

We work with key partners to ensure that the incredible places we share with our guests remain as naturally-functioning ecosystems for our children and grandchildren.

As of December 1, 2019 we are introducing a $5 + GST per day optional contribution on all trips, with 100% of the proceeds helping to establish and support Helicat Canada’s new Wildlife & Environmental Research Fund.

Over the last 20 years, we have contributed almost $2.5 million towards research projects and the work of HeliCat Canada. These investments have aided the development of best practices in environmental and community sustainability and safety and to promote the growth of the helicat sector in a way that is economically, environmentally, and socially responsible.

However, there is always more we can do to improve how we operate. Supporting this new initiative is another important step forward.

Guests will have a $5 + GST per day voluntary contribution added to the cost of their trip at the time of final payment. The cumulative amounts collected by all those participating will add up to a substantive fund.

The money raised will go towards targeted research projects that will enable our sector to continually improve in areas such as wildlife, climate change, and avalanche safety. More information on the fund is found on the HeliCat Canada website.

We work, live and play in communities in south-eastern British Columbia and Alberta’s Bow Valley. With the support of these communities our goal is to ensure that vibrant and sustainable health, wellness and educational facilities are available to local residents, our staff and our guests.

Our strength is people, talented, caring and passionate about mountain adventure. When we combine that strength with the incredible places to which we have access, we have an incredible opportunity to engage and empower those who need a helping hand.
